Korea is the new Japan

I remember in the 90's that it felt like Japan made all of the cool stuff. Sony was obviously the electronics giant, and they made my video camera, stereo components and TV. I even had a Sony laptop at one point. Nintendo and Sony rules video games. Toyota and Honda made the most reliable and practical cars, and I had a series of Toyotas that I adored.

These days, it occurs to me that most of the cool stuff is from Korea. My new Hyundai is from Korea (sort of, it was largely assembled in the US). LG rules our appliances, including 15 years for my washer and dryer, and our new fridge. They make our living room TV, too, and the monitors on my desk. Other screens are likely made by Samsung, in laptops and phones.

I don't have a point really, it's just an observation.
