The future of CampusFish

I mentioned a few entries ago that I'd like to make CampusFish kick ass. In terms of blog and photo features, what would you like to see?

Today I've been taking a break from writing code to research the innards of the .Text blog system, which runs my ASP.NET blog. So much of what goes into this kind of thing is remarkably unimpressive and unimportant to users, but trust me when I say there's a lot of really neat stuff to learn in an application like that, much of which can be used in all sorts of other applications.

If possible, the ability to make individual entries "members only."

The fact that everyone’s pages looked the same is what was holding me back from joining CampusFish. However, the clean look, ease, and price are what caught my eye.

I would also like to see the photo album’s worked over, especially the addition of ability to reorder my pictures much more easily than the current way of moving them up or down in the list. I would also like to edit my pictures captions without re-uploading them.

The ability to hide entries from everyone but the writer would be great to for writing diary-like entries that may start WWIII if the wrong person read them.

At your account level:

  • Choose whether non-members can comment.

At the post level:

  • No one can see it but you.
  • Only CampusFish members may see it.
  • Only CampusFish friends may see it.

Is that right?

I also like Alex's idea about editing your comments (obviously, in a world where non-members can leave comments, only members could edit comments, and then only their own...)

December 13, 2004, 10:33 PM # Oh, I just found something I'd like fixed. You can't search for members under 18, so I'm technically not on the member list.

December 14, 2004, 12:09 AM # I decided to make a go of some of the changes today and I was able to do a couple of them really quickly. They're not even hackish, they actually make sense. The photo album sorting and slug renaming has been addressed. Basically I just need to rework the style thing. If I have time in the next few days I'll upload the changes. Will probably add trackback capability as well.
